Private Runners On The Overland Track

Following cancellation of the 2016 run, we have had some queries from entrants considering running the track themselves. If you are considering this please note that completing the overland track during October to May requires a permit. Whilst the Cradle Run committee has special arrangements with the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service for competitors to participate on race day, this does not extend to any other day. As such, any runners would be required to purchase their own permit and should liaise with the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service. http://www.parks.tas.gov.au/index.aspx?base=27902.

2016 Cradle Run Cancelled Due To Bushfire Risk

After a great deal of discussion, the Cradle Mountain Run Committee has made the difficult and unprecedented decision to cancel the 2016 run due to the serious bushfire situation currently affecting areas close to the Overland Track. This decision has not been made lightly. A large number of factors have been considered including runner safety and a desire to allow runners as much time as possible to change their travel arrangements. All registered runners have now been notified by email.

Entries for the 2017 run will open in mid-October.
